About Big Muddy Hunting Club

The Big Muddy Hunting Club is a privately owned corporation located in Jackson and Williamson Counties (between Carbondale and Marion, IL). It is owned by a sportsman who has been a deer hunter for 30 years and got tired of hunting on very crowded, over-hunted, poorly managed public land. One day, he came across a parcel of land for sale that was already known in the local area for producing "monster bucks." After being allowed to hunt the parcel, he knew he had found exactly what every hunter is looking for.

This parcel of land is ideal. First, it is approximately 1100 acres in one continuous tract; basically 1 1/2 miles by 1 1/2 miles. This is a large enough tract to not have to worry so much about your neighbor shooting the deer your management methods produced. Secondly, this sportsman was able to move onto the parcel. This allows onsite, year round management, plus the ability to keep trespassers off. Third, it is agriculture land which provides plenty of food, and has roughly 450 acres of woods which provide year round browse and cover. In addition, the woods are in the center of the property or at the end of the road, which means trespassers have to come in an "open and visible" way, or by water since the southern border of the property is the Big Muddy River. Needless to say, this sportsman's dream came true.

Four hunting and management years later, he is ready to "share" his dream deer hunting spot!
